words to live by

Sometimes it Pays to be Delusional

The goddess herself Jaida Essence Hall famously said these words during an episode of Drag Race, and we've been living by this mantra ever since. Often we are told to be "realistic" or "practical." As women especially, we are told outright or by social mores to play small and be safe. But that's not how we reach our big dreams. And why shouldn't we try? We want you to be delusional, too. When it makes sense.

  • You CAN build the life you want.

  • You DESERVE to go after your biggest goals.

  • You ARE worthy of all of it!

Our Mission

Waffles Friends Work provides tools and a supportive community for women leading teams and businesses.

Done is Better Than Perfect

We know! Women get held to a different standard than men. At work, as parents, and just going about our business. We believe that done is better than perfect and that sometimes you just have to SHIP IT. We're passionate about helping women undo the programming that makes us feel like we have to think of every potential barrier, push-back, or issue that might come up. Sometimes, you just have to behave like a mediocre man and let it rip.

  • Quality and authenticity matter a lot.

  • Nothing is going to be perfect, and we're not going to think of everything.

  • We have to ignore the voice that tells us we're not ready and let it fly.

Do it Anyway

There are a billion reasons to not do the thing. Have the hard conversation, pitch the idea, heck, start the business. Yeah, it's scary. Yeah, it's new. And hell yeah, it's uncomfortable. But nothing gets done if we keep thinking of reasons to NOT do it. And wow do we creative with those reasons! We work hard at WFW to let things be messy and learn as we go. We refuse to be stifled in making our vision come to life because we're scared or don't feel ready. We just do it anyway.

  • The FFT (freaking first time) is real, and you'll learn a lot from it.

  • Be kind to yourself when you're scared. But do it anyway.

  • Everything is information. Feedback, comments, all of it is data. Use it that way.

MEET THE Instigators

We're Kara & Jensie

In 2022, we started the Waffles Friends Work Podcast as a bit of a passion project and a way to be silly and hang out together. Sure, starting a podcast and eventually a business with your sister could be potentially disastrous. But we've worked hard to stick to our commitment to only do it if it's fun, and now we are expanding beyond our podcast to provide even more resources and support for individuals and businesses. We're passionate about helping folks live their best lives at home and at work.
